Creating Form and Order
This project is about creating a chapel at Farmingdale State College that everyone, regardless of their religion, can use to pray or think about life. To make it special, we're focusing on using light in clever ways. We need to figure out how to control the light coming in and blend the building with the natural surroundings.

I found a solution by studying how light changes throughout the year and looking at the campus layout. Using this information, I decided where to put the chapel and how to design it to work well with the light and surroundings.
Light Research on Past Precedents
The Notre Dame du Haut, was built in 1955 in Ronchamp, France by French architect Le Corbusier
Le Corbusier controlled the light by using a small to large openings for the windows. He also designed a thin opening at the top of the wall between the roof to all light to come in
In this secyion of this beautiful building you can see the unique design of the roof and angled windows.
This is an inside view of the tower at the Notre Dame du Haut. You can witness the way the light reflects on the walls without directly entering the chapel
